Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Doo ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lamar Butler! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doo scores with a kick to the body.
Butler tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. John Doo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Doo jabs at Butler's body. Butler has managed to clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Doo .
It looks like Lamar Butler has been cut. Doo is stalling here.
Doo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Doo seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Our sources have told us that Doo has been working on his elbows in the gym. Butler wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nice elbow from Doo . We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Butler jumps guard but Doo stands there with Butler around his waist. Butler gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Knees to the body from Doo .
That's one minute gone in the round. Doo manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Butler has Doo pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Doo manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Doo lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Doo working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Butler is rocked! Doo displaying some good clinch control by pressing Butler up against the cage. Butler is still on wobbly legs! Can Doo finish him? Doo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Butler's efforts to push away. Doo landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Doo lands a right hand that snaps the head of Butler backwards. Doo slows down the pace here.
Butler is pressed against the cage. Doo pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Butler! Two more big strikes from Doo and Butler crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). John Doo !
