Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephan Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Mason acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephan Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Mason!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mason works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Stephan Hicks has been cut.

Hicks closes the distance and pushes Mason back into the cage.

Hicks jumps into guard, dragging Mason to the mat.
Mason looking to sit in guard and control but Hicks gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicks in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hicks postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Hicks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hicks throws a big elbow that misses.
Mason looking to control but Hicks passes into half guard.
Mason keeping hold of Hicks's head, controlling as best he can.
Mason tries to roll over but Hicks keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hicks is trying to work for a kimura but Mason is defending well.
Hicks thows a huge punch but Mason dodges it nicely.
Mason is looking to control Hicks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mason avoid being mounted?
Hicks stops Mason from getting back to his feet.
Mason really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hicks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hicks not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Mason pushes Hicks off and gets back to his feet.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hicks paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mason has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mason is trying to force a seperation but Hicks has the dominant position.
Hicks is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mason to keep the fight standing.
Mason wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mason working hard to break the clinch.
Mason wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Hicks has him pressed against the cage.
Mason working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Hicks jumps guard but Mason stands there with Hicks around his waist. Hicks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hicks tries to pull guard but Mason holds him up against the cage and eventually Hicks drops back down to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stephan Hicks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hicks changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mason fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mason swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Hicks counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hicks.
Hicks is standing up over Mason. Mason looks to escape but Hicks dives into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Mason is trying to get back to half guard.
Mason is trying to work for a sweep but Hicks has mounted him!
Hicks breaks from Mason's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Hicks working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Mason is desperately trying to improve his position but Hicks has a good base and remains in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hicks with good strikes from the mount here!
Mason takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Mason is looking to get to half guard.

Hicks working for a guillotine from mount but Mason is in no mood to give up.
Mason trying desperately to get to his feet.

Hicks is working for a guillotine from mount but Mason frees his head quite easily.
Hicks prevents Mason from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephan Hicks dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Stephan Hicks's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mason lands a glancing blow to the side of Hicks's head.
Mason tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mason bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Mason walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Hicks drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Mason swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Hicks's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Mason!
