Coming up we have a featherweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Mega Funkyama and Masa Wasa. Funkyama's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Bon Jovi: Bad Medicine. The crowd seem to be enjoying Wasa's choice of entrance music: Welcome To The Jungle. In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 5 losses; Mega Funkyama! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 4 losses; Masa Wasa! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Wasa dives in for a single leg takedown but Funkyama sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Funkyama closes the distance and clinches. Funkyama has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Wasa is trying to keep an underhook but Funkyama manages to get the takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Funkyama (2) vs (0) Wasa Wasa felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Wasa is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Funkyama jumps into side control! Score +3 for passing guard: Funkyama (5) vs (0) Wasa Wasa tries to improve position but can't. Funkyama thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wasa is trying to improve his position. Funkyama moves into full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Funkyama (7) vs (0) Wasa The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wasa keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wasa has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Score +3 for taking back: Funkyama (10) vs (0) Wasa The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Funkyama controlling well, preventing Wasa from escaping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wasa preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Funkyama. Wasa is trying to break free.
Wasa has hold of Funkyama's leg, trying to break free but it's let Funkyama lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Wasa is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Funkyama throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
