Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roosevelt Sampson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yolonda Mum! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sampson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Mum sneaks out the side door and pushes Sampson away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Mum tries to land a leg kick but Sampson saw it coming and moves away.
Sampson keeps the fight on the outside. Mum tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sampson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mum sprawls well initially but Sampson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mum tries to get to full guard but Sampson has control of the leg. Mum gets back to full guard.
Mum is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mum has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sampson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Mum looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sampson is one step ahead there. Sampson stands up over Mum, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sampson is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Mum controls Sampson momentarily but Sampson frees himself. Sampson scoring with punches to the head and body. Sampson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sampson stops Mum from standing up. Sampson lands a couple of digs. Sampson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mum has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sampson has managed to get both his arms back between Mum's legs - danger averted. Mum looks winded! Mum working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sampson.

Mum tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sampson paws at him with a jab and circles away. It looked like Sampson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Mum throws a low kick but Sampson moves out of range easily. Sampson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Mum. Sampson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Mum looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Sampson working some strikes from top position. Sampson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mum can do to turn this around? Sampson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Sampson distracts Mum with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Sampson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Mum wants to improve his position but instead Sampson has moved into half guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Sampson working Mum over with strikes. Mum tries to roll over but Sampson keeps him under control. Yolonda Mum has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Roosevelt Sampson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. And that's the end of the fight! Roosevelt Sampson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sampson, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
