Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Shirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Suffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Barry Shirk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Will Suffer! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Suffer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Suffer looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Suffer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shirk keeps working. Shirk tries to get to full guard but Suffer has control of the leg. Suffer is figuring out what he wants to do next. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Suffer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Suffer looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Shirk wants to control but Suffer is keeping busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suffer prevents Shirk from improving his position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shirk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Suffer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Shirk trying to control the position.

Suffer trying to control but Shirk is working from the bottom. Shirk trying to keep a closed guard but Suffer is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shirk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Suffer manages to get himself to full guard.

Suffer has Shirk pulled in close to control his posture. Shirk slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Suffer throws Shirk to one side and escapes! Shirk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Suffer instigates a clinch. Shirk drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shirk tries to land a sweep but no joy. Shirk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Suffer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shirk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Suffer's guard. Shirk lands a couple of elbows.
It looks like Will Suffer has been cut. Shirk has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Shirk trying to control the position from guard on top but Suffer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Shirk lands a couple of decent looking shots. Suffer throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Shirk chips away with some ground and pound. Suffer has Shirk pulled in close to control his posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Suffer controls Shirk momentarily but Shirk frees himself. Shirk trying to control but Suffer is working from the bottom. Suffer looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Shirk stands and throws Suffer's legs to the side, diving into side control. Shirk landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Suffer is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Shirk asserts his dominance and retains side control. Suffer tries to get back to half guard but can't. Suffer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Barry Shirk will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Will Suffer's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Shirk tries to bum rush Suffer with a series of wild strikes but Suffer uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Shirk closes this distance looking for a takedown but Suffer circles away. Suffer looks for a takedown but Shirk sprawls well. Shirk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Suffer's guard. Suffer is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Shirk passes easily into side control. Nice work. Shirk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Suffer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shirk looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Barry Shirk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shirk working the head and body with strikes. Suffer is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suffer pushes Shirk away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Shirk gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Suffer is looking to reverse the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shirk looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Shirk lands some shots froms side control. Shirk is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Suffer is trying to escape and Shirk transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Suffer is forced to tap! Nice work there by Shirk! Very nice indeed!
