5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paulie Wogg! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Miller! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miller throws a low kick but it's checked well by Wogg. Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Wogg throws a half hearted mid kick. Miller throws out a leg kick but Wogg moves out of range and Miller only half commits. Wogg moves out of range as Miller throws a body kick.
Wogg wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Miller lands with a thumping leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wogg fails in his attempt to clinch. Miller tries a head kick but it misses.
Miller feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Wogg's calf. Wogg tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Miller misses with an attempted mid kick.

Miller does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Miller throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Wogg's head. Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Wogg tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wogg misses with a head kick.

Miller keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wogg misses with a wild body shot. Miller throws a head kick that misses and Wogg counters with a nice double leg into side control. Miller won't be happy with that. An elbow from Wogg crashes against the mat.
Wogg is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Miller knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Miller is not content to let Wogg control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.

Wogg fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Miller keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Wogg. Wogg checks a leg kick. That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller throws a push kick but Wogg slaps the foot to one side. Miller throws a lazy body kick and Wogg counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wogg not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miller is trying to maintain the position but Wogg is very close to passing his half guard. Wogg is working for a kimura but Miller is defending it quite comfortably.
Wogg is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Miller sees it coming and defends easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wogg is pressing down on Miller's thigh, looking to free his foot. Miller is holding on for now. Miller is trying is best to control the position here. Miller trying to hold on to Wogg's head to control him but Wogg postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Miller misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. A nice leg kick lands there from Miller. Miller goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Wogg fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulie Wogg. That's going to take a lot out of him. Miller throws a head kick that misses and Wogg counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Miller's guard now. Miller controlling Wogg's posture. Wogg throws a big right hand that misses. Wogg stopping the sweep attempt from Miller. Miller throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

A close second round but Jay Miller will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Wogg fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miller, pushing him back against the cage. Miller blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Wogg has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Miller avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Miller has Wogg pushed against the cage. Miller wants to get back to striking at distance but Wogg won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wogg tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Miller smiles and moves away.

Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Wogg. Wogg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Miller swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulie Wogg. That's going to take a lot out of him. Miller throws a leg kick which misses Wogg's front leg but catches the back leg as Wogg tries to avoid it. Wogg takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Wogg gets off balance looking for a body kick and Miller counters with a big head kick but Wogg shrugs it off. Wogg is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Wogg closes the distance looking to clinch and Miller counters with a body kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Miller really dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
