And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Irving Sokolsky!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Riggs is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sokolsky is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Riggs is working Sokolsky over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Riggs stands up and waves to Sokolsky to follow him.
Sokolsky takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Riggs clinches.

Riggs turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Sokolsky takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Riggs tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Riggs has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Riggs goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Sokolsky rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Riggs's guard! Nice work there by Sokolsky!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Riggs manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Riggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sokolsky avoids the head kick by Riggs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stuart Riggs dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Riggs lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sokolsky backs up against the cage.
Sokolsky tries to close the distance and clinch up but Riggs swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Sokolsky.

Irving Sokolsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Riggs tries to keep at a distance but Sokolsky has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Riggs wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sokolsky has him pressed against the cage.

Riggs is working for a kimura but Sokolsky is defending it quite comfortably.
Riggs is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sokolsky can do to turn this around?
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Riggs lands a nice short elbow.
Riggs thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Riggs not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Riggs scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riggs wants to work for an arm triangle but Sokolsky is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sokolsky has hold of Riggs's hands but Riggs slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Riggs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Riggs winds up and cracks Sokolsky with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Riggs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stuart Riggs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sokolsky really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Riggs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Riggs looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Riggs is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Sokolsky is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
