Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaleva Vettenranta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Hojackin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Hojackin will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kaleva Vettenranta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David Hojackin!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good leg kick by Hojackin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hojackin jabs at Vettenranta's body.
Hojackin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vettenranta.
Nice sprawl there from Hojackin as Vettenranta shoots in.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hojackin.
Vettenranta shoots in looking for a takedown. Hojackin tries to sprawl out of it but Vettenranta keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hojackin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Hojackin lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Vettenranta shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hojackin defends it nicely.

Vettenranta has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vettenranta is working Hojackin over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Vettenranta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hojackin looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hojackin looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hojackin!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Vettenranta tries to buck Hojackin off but Hojackin is having none of it.

Vettenranta is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hojackin off and has taken his back!

You can see the frustration on Hojackin's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Hojackin is keeping busy.
Hojackin rolls, trying to escape but Vettenranta keeps control of the position.

A close round but David Hojackin will probably get the nod.

That's time! Vettenranta's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Vettenranta takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hojackin lands a nice looking body kick.
Hojackin defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vettenranta.
Vettenranta dives in for a single leg takedown but Hojackin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Hojackin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Vettenranta eats them both and turns towards Hojackin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Hojackin gets caught flat footed, as Vettenranta shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hojackin has his hands on Vettenranta's head, controlling the position.
Hojackin keeping moving, preventing Vettenranta from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

We've been hearing that Vettenranta has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hojackin stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hojackin wants it to stay on the feet.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hojackin's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Vettenranta is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Hojackin is holding on to half guard well.
Hojackin on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

David Hojackin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, if Hojackin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Hojackin is taking a breather. Vettenranta says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Vettenranta is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hojackin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hojackin's back!

Vettenranta is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Vettenranta gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Vettenranta gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Vettenranta apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Horrible takedown attempt by Vettenranta or perhaps it was just good defense by Hojackin, which made it look bad.

You can see the frustration on Hojackin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Hojackin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vettenranta. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hojackin parries the strikes from Vettenranta easily there. Vettenranta is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hojackin to escape.
Vettenranta is looking to take a break and control but Hojackin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vettenranta is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hojackin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Vettenranta is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Hojackin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
