Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mitchel Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pranav Kumaran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mitchel Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pranav Kumaran!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Kumaran gets control of Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kumaran will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Silva stays in close to Kumaran's body and controls the position.
Silva has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Silva manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Kumaran dives in and grabs Silva's left leg, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes down on Kumaran's head and hops out.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Silva is on top in guard.

Silva wants to stand but Kumaran is controlling his posture from full guard.

and Silva counters by clinching up.
Kumaran is breathing heavily.

Silva pulls guard successfully.
Kumaran throws a big right hand that misses.
Kumaran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva lands some strikes from the bottom.
Silva is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Silva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Silva throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Silva holds on and takes a little breather.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Silva lands a head kick. Kumaran smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Kumaran will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kumaran throws a push kick but Silva slaps the foot to one side.

Mitchel Silva dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Silva gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Silva jumps guard but Kumaran stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kumaran jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Kumaran gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kumaran tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silva just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kumaran takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Silva prevents a takedown attempt there.

Silva is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kumaran can't fight it off and eventually Silva manages to take the fight to the floor. Kumaran looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Silva thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kumaran has momentary wrist control but Silva slips an elbow through the middle.

Silva stands and steps away. Kumaran gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva lands with a nice combination. Kumaran backs away looking to recover.
Pranav Kumaran seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Silva has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Kumaran throws a leg kick

and Silva moves into the clinch.

Silva turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Silva manages to end up in side control.
Silva really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Silva is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Silva is putting a hurting on Kumaran here, landing some big shots from side control.

And Kumaran responds with a good body kick, but Silva manages to step out the way in time.

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Kumaran in a clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Silva lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
