PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Domique StormThrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). StormThrone has chosen Battle Macabre as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sam Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Domique StormThrone!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That kick from Peterson tenderised StormThrone's leg. StormThrone is trying to keep his angry face on.
StormThrone shoots for a takedown but Peterson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Peterson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and StormThrone counters by moving into the clinch.
Peterson tries to work over StormThrone's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Peterson is trying to break free.

StormThrone breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A looping hook to the body misses from Peterson. StormThrone does a little dance to reset his feet.
And StormThrone tries to counter it with a takedown but Peterson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Peterson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
StormThrone takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Peterson blocks a head kick by StormThrone.

and StormThrone counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by StormThrone.

Peterson wants to stand and escape but StormThrone is having none of it.
StormThrone's corner is telling him to maintain position.
StormThrone tries to free his leg and advance position but Peterson is retaining full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
StormThrone is stalling in the full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

StormThrone drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
StormThrone controls the position.
StormThrone's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

StormThrone tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no StormThrone has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peterson is looking to get back to his feet here but StormThrone is keeping cool and he's managed to take Peterson's back.
StormThrone controls the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Domique StormThrone dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Peterson tries to bum rush StormThrone with a series of wild strikes but StormThrone uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
StormThrone chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Peterson can pounce on him.
Sam Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
StormThrone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Peterson.
StormThrone fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Peterson changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Peterson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
StormThrone blocks the body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A right-left combo lands from Peterson.
Peterson misses the shot to the body.
Some wild striking there from Peterson.
StormThrone steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Peterson.

Peterson throws a series of punches but StormThrone avoids them all with ease.
StormThrone scores with a head kick. Peterson tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Sam Peterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

StormThrone instigates a clinch.
StormThrone is working for takedown but Peterson is calmly controlling the position for now.
Peterson wants to get back to striking at distance but StormThrone won't allow it.
StormThrone goes for a takedown attempt but Peterson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sam Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Domique StormThrone.

StormThrone gets a double leg takedown into Peterson's guard.
StormThrone slips nicely into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

StormThrone looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

StormThrone keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

StormThrone stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Peterson to get to his feet.
StormThrone goes for a double leg but Peterson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Peterson continues to drive forward.
Some wild striking there from Peterson.

StormThrone shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Peterson as he avoids it easily.
StormThrone slips a jab and a cross from Peterson.
StormThrone is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam Peterson dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

StormThrone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Peterson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Peterson throws a chopping leg kick but StormThrone manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Peterson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
StormThrone is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Peterson throws a right hand that StormThrone ducks under and follows up with a left that StormThrone also avoids with ease.
StormThrone changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

StormThrone shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Peterson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
StormThrone slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

StormThrone gets to his feet - Peterson follows without any prompting.

Peterson stuffs the takedown.
Peterson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Peterson misses with a low kick.
StormThrone slips a jab and a cross from Peterson.

and StormThrone counters by moving into the clinch.

StormThrone jumps guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Peterson stands up from StormThrone's guard - Peterson perhaps looking for a knockout.
StormThrone shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sam Peterson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Domique StormThrone.
StormThrone throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing StormThrone off to one side.

StormThrone drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

StormThrone gets to his feet. Peterson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

StormThrone shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Peterson but Peterson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Peterson moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Peterson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
StormThrone wants to clinch up but Peterson keeps it at a distance.
Peterson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Peterson keeps the fight on the outside.
StormThrone shoots in looking for a takedown but Peterson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing StormThrone's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

StormThrone shoots in and bounces Peterson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Peterson wants to stand but StormThrone is controlling the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Sam Peterson showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Peterson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
