Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paddy Brown! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, John Blitz! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blitz staying out of range there. Blitz shoots in for a takedown but Brown shows good takedown defense. Brown attempts a counter takedown but Blitz avoids it well and moves away. Blitz fails in his attempt to clinch. Blitz lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Brown defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Blitz. Blitz is looking to clinch but Brown is avoiding it.
Brown has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Blitz on the wrong end of a nice hook. Brown throws a hook to the side of Blitz's head but Blitz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Blitz slips a jab from Brown. Blitz is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Brown with a body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brown misses the shot to the body. Blitz throws a lazy body kick and Brown counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Brown seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Blitz preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Blitz is refusing to be controlled, as Brown sits in half guard. Blitz is trying to maintain the position but Brown is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blitz is just riding it out for now. Brown eventually gives up the hold. Brown is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Brown is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Blitz! Brown looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Blitz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown looking to control but Blitz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Brown scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Blitz?
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Blitz is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Blitz and Brown has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Blitz is trying to control Brown's posture but Brown avoids it. Brown throws an elbow but Blitz slips to the side and avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Brown tries for a kimura but Blitz is defending well. Blitz is not content to let Brown control the position. Blitz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brown is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blitz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Brown moves nicely into side control. Brown lands some shots froms side control. Brown lands a few punches from side control. Blitz dodges the ground and pound from Brown. Brown goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Blitz rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Brown's guard! Nice work there by Blitz! Brown tries to land a sweep but no joy. Blitz fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Brown has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Brown throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Blitz lands with a good body shot. Good leg kick by Blitz there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Blitz as he jumps to the side. Brown throws an overhand right that lands on Blitz's shoulder, as Blitz tries to avoid the shot. John Blitz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Blitz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paddy Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him. Blitz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Brown avoids it really well and circles away. Brown feinted with a counter takedown. Blitz keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Brown connects with a body shot. Brown's jab looks to have found its range, popping Blitz under the eye. Brown circles away from the clinch attempt and Brown counters with a takedown into side control. Blitz is trying to control Brown's posture but Brown avoids it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Blitz parries the strikes from Brown easily there. Brown is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Blitz to escape.

And that's the end of the fight! Paddy Brown showed his dominance in that final round. Well Brown has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Paddy Brown was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. John Blitz spoke after the fight, saying 'Have to train my wrestling'.
