The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sammalkorpi gets a double leg takedown into Cesar Chavez 's guard. Sammalkorpi lands a couple of digs. Cesar Chavez keeping moving, preventing Sammalkorpi from controlling successfully. Sammalkorpi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Sammalkorpi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Cesar Chavez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sammalkorpi controlling from the top position. Cesar Chavez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sammalkorpi is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sammalkorpi chips away with some ground and pound. Sammalkorpi looking to pass the guard. Sammalkorpi cracks Cesar Chavez with a solid left hand. Sammalkorpi postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Sammalkorpi trying to control but Cesar Chavez is working from the bottom. Sammalkorpi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Sammalkorpi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cesar Chavez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sammalkorpi has managed to get both his arms back between Cesar Chavez 's legs - danger averted. Sammalkorpi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cesar Chavez looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Sammalkorpi is defending well. Cesar Chavez quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Sammalkorpi has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Cesar Chavez celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
