PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Rogov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogov is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Metallica-Enter Sandman. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Antonio Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Rogov!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A bone on bone clash there as Brown blocks the leg kick.
Brown lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rogov chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Brown can pounce on him.
Rogov throws a nice outside leg kick.
Brown turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Brown lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Rogov goes for a double leg but Brown avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brown continues to drive forward.
As Rogov backs away, Brown returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Good leg kick by Rogov there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rogov shoots in but Brown avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rogov wants to clinch
and Brown counters with a nice low kick that buckles Rogov's knee momentarily.

Brown gets caught napping as Rogov dives in and scores a takedown. Brown manages to retain guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rogov engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Brown had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rogov defends it easily.
Rogov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Rogov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rogov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Brown, up you get!

Rogov fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brown appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Antonio Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alexander Rogov.
Brown takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Brown fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rogov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Nice takedown defense from Brown. No joy for Rogov on that attempt.

Brown definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Rogov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brown is fending him off so far but Rogov persists. Nope, Brown circles away and we're back to standing.

Alexander Rogov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rogov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Brown connects with a leg kick. Rogov looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Brown misses with a low kick as Rogov jumps back.

Brown throws a lazy right hand but Rogov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Some bone on bone action there as Rogov checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

and Brown counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Brown does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

and Brown takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rogov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Brown counters with a good low kick that Rogov was not able to check.
Rogov's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Rogov dives in for a single leg takedown but Brown sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

That kick from Brown tenderised Rogov's leg. Rogov is trying to keep his angry face on.

Brown cracks Rogov with a good jab.
Brown is looking to slow Rogov down with leg kicks.
We've been informed that Rogov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Brown shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Rogov fails with the takedown
and Brown makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Rogov gets a double leg takedown into Brown's guard.

Brown wants to sweep here but Rogov controlling him for the moment.
Brown tries to strike from the bottom.
Brown is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Brown pushes a forearm under Rogov's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rogov is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
