Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lamar Page (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gilberto Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lamar Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gilberto Silva!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Page blocks a head kick by Silva.
Page swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Silva has managed to clinch.

Page gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Page tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Silva.
Silva keeping hold of Page's head, controlling as best he can.
Silva looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Silva is trying to maintain the position but Page is very close to passing his half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Page escapes and gets back to his feet.
Page stalks Silva and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Silva's face. Silva staggers backwards, shaken.
Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Page avoids it really well and circles away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Page misses with a head kick.
Page throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Page scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Silva throws a head kick but Page moves out of range.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Page looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Page could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Page swinging wildly here.
Silva only half commits to the counter leg kick.
A right-left combo lands from Page.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Silva looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Page feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Page sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Page, pushing him back against the cage.
Page is trying to pull guard but Silva turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Page is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Silva is defending well.
Page is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lamar Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silva landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Silva misses with a knee to the head.
Page has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silva after a bit of a struggle.
Silva lands with a right to the head.
Silva is trying to break the clinch but Page is controlling him.
Silva wants a takedown.
Silva displaying some good clinch control by pressing Page up against the cage.
Silva content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Page misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Silva.

Silva gets underhooks to prevent Page's takedown attempt.
Page can't get the takedown.
Silva lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Page gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Silva.
Stalling in the clinch from Silva.
Page jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Silva walks away with a smile on his face. Page gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gilberto Silva will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Page goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Silva is looking to land body kicks.
Silva tried to score with a low kick but Page checks it.
A jab from Silva misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Silva slowing the pace effectively.
Silva prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva with a knee to the head.


It looks like Lamar Page has been cut.

Page drags the fight down to the ground.
Page wants to sweep but no luck.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Page keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully.
Page wants to sweep but no luck.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Page is keeping the position.

Page has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Page wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lamar Page is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick misses from Silva.

Silva clinches up with Page and pushes him back against the cage.
Silva landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Page jumps guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva sitting in guard here, content to control.
Page preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Page swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Page looking to control.

Silva decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Page, up you get!

Silva moves into the clinch.
Silva using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Page has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Page tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Silva smiles and moves away.
Silva slips a jab and a cross from Page.
Lamar Page is winning the standup battle so far.

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Page in a clinch.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Silva throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Page throws a chopping leg kick but Silva manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Silva is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Silva tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva connects with a high kick.
Silva throws a head kick but Page moves out of range.
Silva misses with an attempted mid kick.
Page tries to counter with a takedown but Silva is quick to defend against it.

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Silva manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gilberto Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Lamar Page's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Silva instigates a clinch.
Silva gets underhooks to prevent Page's takedown attempt.
Silva has Page pushed against the cage.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Page moves out of range of the body kick from Silva.
Page is looking to counter the offense by Silva and move into the clinch.
Silva connects with a crisp jab.
Silva lunges at Page with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Page's hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Page fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Page blocks a head kick by Silva.
Sloppy strikes from Page. Those never looked like landing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Silva.
Silva throws a sloppy head kick and Page moves out of range easily.
As Silva tries to get set, Page tries to push him back and clinch up but Silva manages to avoid the attempt.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Page manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Silva clinches with his opponent.
Page has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Page blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Page wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lamar Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Silva's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gilberto Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Silva moves into the clinch.
Page being controlled against the cage.
Silva with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Silva has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Page jumps into guard, dragging Silva to the mat.
Silva stops Page from standing up.
Silva stays in close to Page's body and controls the position.
Page wants to improve his position but instead Silva has moved into half guard.
Silva lands strikes from half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva slows the pace down in half guard.

Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Page doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.

Silva is working for a kimura but Page is defending it quite comfortably.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Page trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Page wants to get back to full guard.
Silva stops Page from getting back to his feet.
Gilberto Silva is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Page is doing well to control the position and prevent Silva from advancing to side control.
Lamar Page has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Silva slows the pace down in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gilberto Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Silva winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
