Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 1, fighting out of New York, John Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Carlo Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Brown tries for a takedown but Alvarez circles away easily
and Alvarez counters with a left to the body.
Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Alvarez as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brown shoots for a takedown but Alvarez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brown shoots for a double leg takedown but Alvarez sprawls well. He's pushed Brown's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alvarez looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Brown drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brown landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Brown.
Alvarez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brown winds up and cracks Alvarez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Brown scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Brown is pressing down on Alvarez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Alvarez is holding on for now.
Alvarez is looking to improve his position.
Alvarez is trying to maintain the position but Brown is very close to passing his half guard.
Brown has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Brown has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Alvarez's face.
Brown is in the full mount, landing strikes.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez is trying to escape the mount.
Brown with shots to the head and body - Alvarez looks very uncomfortable down there.
Brown lands a nice shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brown landing strikes from the mount and Alvarez is in trouble!
Brown lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Alvarez takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Alvarez is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Brown landing shots from mount.
Brown looking to finish Alvarez with some ground and pound. This is bad for Alvarez!
Brown cracks Alvarez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The referee warns Alvarez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


Alvarez is rocked!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Brown! Alvarez is hurt baaadly! Brown is firing away with more strikes - Alvarez is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Brown!
