Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erik Norman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Higgins ! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Topper Green and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Norman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Higgins sprawls well. Higgins wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Norman gets slowly back to his feet. Norman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Higgins feints and as Norman raises his hands in defense, Higgins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Higgins is looking to work some ground and pound but Norman has wrist control. Higgins is looking to work some ground and pound but Norman has wrist control. Higgins won't allow Norman to get back to his feet. Higgins works a leg free and moves into half guard. Higgins wants to control but Norman is keeping him busy. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Norman wants to get back to full guard. Norman is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Higgins wants to pass the guard but Norman is defending well. Norman tries to roll over but Higgins keeps him under control. Norman taking some punishment here, with Higgins in his half guard. Norman is looking to improve his position.
Norman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Norman. Norman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Higgins manages to get to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Higgins trying to control the position.
Norman trying to control the position from guard on top but Higgins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Higgins looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Higgins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Norman looking to sit in guard and control but Higgins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Norman striking off his back but it's not causing Higgins any problems.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Norman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Higgins 's guard. Norman wants to control from the top but Higgins keeps moving. Higgins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Norman working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Higgins trying to keep a closed guard but Norman is proving a slippery customer.
Norman stays in close to Higgins 's body and controls the position. Higgins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Higgins keeping moving, preventing Norman from controlling successfully. Higgins looking for a sweep. Not yet Higgins , not yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Higgins has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Norman has passed into side control.
Higgins manages to get back to half guard. Still in half guard, Norman seems content to control. Norman missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Higgins keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Higgins looks like he's trying to stand up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Higgins tries to roll over but Norman keeps him under control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Harry Higgins will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Higgins shoots in but no luck this time. Norman throws a right hand that Higgins ducks under and follows up with a left that Higgins also avoids with ease. Norman tries for a takedown but Higgins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Higgins scores with a jab. Higgins shoots for a double leg takedown but Norman sprawls well. He's pushed Higgins 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Higgins scores with a takedown into Norman's guard. Norman is looking for a triangle but Higgins pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Norman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Higgins pushing down on Norman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Higgins working Norman over with strikes. Norman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Norman trying to control but Higgins postures up.

Higgins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Norman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Harry Higgins has got the better of the ground game so far. Higgins is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Norman wants to improve his position but Higgins is controlling well.
Higgins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Higgins connects with a nice short shot to Norman's temple. Higgins decides to stand and escape the position. Higgins misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Higgins rushes Norman and presses him up against the cage. Higgins avoiding damage.
Norman decides to pull guard. Norman is trying to keep Higgins in close.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Higgins landing some decent shots from guard. Higgins scoring with some ground and pound. Higgins working some strikes from top position.
Norman is rocked! Higgins arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Norman's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Harry Higgins ! Harry Higgins decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
