Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mauricio Dela Cruz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Shane Walker!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
We've been informed that Walker has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Dela Cruz steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Walker. That one must have hurt.

Walker looks to score with a jab to the body but Dela Cruz is just out of range.
Dela Cruz looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.
Dela Cruz has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Netherlands Top Team & KT in the buildup to the fight.

Walker lands a really nice looking cross but Dela Cruz seems unphased.

Walker lands a big head kick that sends Dela Cruz tumbling to the mat! Walker takes a step backwards and waves Dela Cruz back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Mauricio Dela Cruz has been cut.

Dela Cruz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Walker on his heels. He'll look to pass Walker's guard now, I'm sure.
Dela Cruz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walker swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dela Cruz is looking to work some ground and pound but Walker has wrist control.
Dela Cruz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Dela Cruz throws an elbow that misses. Walker uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dela Cruz's guard. Nice move by Walker!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walker must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Walker content to control rather than advance.
Walker is keen to just control but Dela Cruz is a slippery customer.

Dela Cruz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walker pulls his head out easily.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dela Cruz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Walker is working away from the top position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Walker thows a left - swing and a miss!

Dela Cruz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Shane Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fighters circling - Walker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Walker changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Dela Cruz fails to land the takedown.
Walker scores with a kick to the body.
Walker fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Dela Cruz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Good leg kick by Walker there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Dela Cruz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dela Cruz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Walker tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Dela Cruz is in Walker's guard.

Walker wants to hit a switch here but Dela Cruz passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Walker there!

Walker is rocked!
Dela Cruz loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Walker scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Dela Cruz land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Dela Cruz stands and salutes the crowd.

During a confident post fight interview, Mauricio Dela Cruz thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
