Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Avery Churchill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shirato Shin!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Shin closes the distance and pushes Churchill back into the cage.

Shin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Churchill looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Shin tries to clinch there but Churchill circles away.
Churchill misses with a series of wild punches.
Churchill swinging wildly here.
Shin is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shin wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Churchill manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Churchill keeps the fight on the outside.
Churchill avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Churchill drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shin sprawls and moves away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shin wants to clinch but Churchill slips to the side

and Churchill counters with a single leg into guard. Shin didn't expect that.
Churchill slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Churchill tries to free his leg and advance position but Shin is retaining full guard.
Churchill sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Shin wants to stand and escape but Churchill is having none of it.
Churchill slips nicely into half guard.

Churchill is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shin sees it coming and defends easily.
Churchill tries to pass the half guard into mount. Shin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Churchill is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Churchill is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shin is defending against the submission attempts here by Churchill.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Churchill prevents Shin from standing back up.

Churchill has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Shin defend it? Churchill steps over the head and cranks it - Shin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Churchill!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Avery Churchill!
Avery Churchill looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'My corner kept calling, "FLYING KNEE! FLYING KNEEBAR! SPINNING BACKFIST!," and I was just like, WTF DAN! I'M A WRESTLER!'.
