Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darren Lockyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miyamoto Musashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Darren Lockyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miyamoto Musashi!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lockyer looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Musashi closes the distance and clinches.
Lockyer struggles to land a body shot inside as Musashi controls his hands.
Musashi fails to pull guard.
A body shot lands from Musashi.
Lockyer looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Lockyer wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Lockyer is looking to break free of the clinch but Musashi has double underhooks.

Musashi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That kick from Lockyer tenderised Musashi's leg. Musashi is trying to keep his angry face on.
Lockyer throws a right hand that Musashi ducks under and follows up with a left that Musashi also avoids with ease.
Musashi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Lockyer defends it well.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Musashi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lockyer makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lockyer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Musashi is looking to clinch but Lockyer is avoiding it.
Musashi closes the distance and clinches up with Lockyer, looking for a takedown. Musashi pushes Lockyer against the cage but Lockyer circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Darren Lockyer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miyamoto Musashi.
Musashi tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lockyer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Musashi moves away from the strike by Lockyer.
Lockyer throws out a loose jab but Musashi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Musashi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.


It looks like Miyamoto Musashi has been cut.
Musashi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Musashi doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Lockyer counters with a nice low kick that buckles Musashi's knee momentarily.

and Musashi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lockyer's guard.

Lockyer pushes Musashi off and gets back to his feet.
Musashi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lockyer sprawls well. Lockyer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Musashi gets slowly back to his feet.

Musashi wants to pass the guard but Lockyer is keeping the position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Musashi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Musashi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Musashi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lockyer is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Musashi, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Musashi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Musashi shoots in looking for a takedown but Lockyer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Musashi's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Lockyer was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Lockyer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Musashi sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Lockyer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Musashi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lockyer was covering up waiting for the punch and Musashi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Lockyer holds on and takes a little breather.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Musashi fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Musashi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
A lazy left from Lockyer finds it's target.
Lockyer swings for the body but Musashi moves out of range.
Lockyer catches Musashi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Lockyer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Musashi can do to turn this around?
Musashi closes the distance but Lockyer moves to the side
and Lockyer counters with a stiff right hand.
Lockyer throws a hook but Musashi avoids it easily.
Musashi tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Musashi moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.


Musashi is rocked!
Musashi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lockyer as he jumps to the side.
Lockyer throws a body punch but Musashi moves out of range.
Lockyer misses the jab.
Lockyer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Lockyer tries to land a front kick but Musashi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lockyer shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Lockyer throws a hook but Musashi blocks it.
A little jabbing left from Musashi on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lockyer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Musashi is still on wobbly legs! Can Lockyer finish him?
Lockyer lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Musashi falls backwards - clearly groggy! Lockyer dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darren Lockyer!
Darren Lockyer decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
