Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cenk John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Magnus Olavsson! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Olavsson.
John changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Olavsson tries to avoid it but John manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Olavsson to the ground. Olavsson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. John throws a head kick that half lands.
No luck with that takedown attempt from John. John shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cenk John. That's going to take a lot out of him. John closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Olavsson to the mat! Olavsson manages to get full guard. Olavsson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. John loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. John throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Olavsson is pulling down on John's head to control his posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Cenk John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. John looks to throw the jab but Olavsson is out of range. A little jabbing left from Olavsson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Olavsson throws a body shot but no joy. Olavsson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Olavsson throws a jab but it's blocked by John. John steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Olavsson. John misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Olavsson slaps away a takedown attempt from John, before circling back to the center of the mat. Olavsson feints the counter takedown. John tries to clinch there but Olavsson circles away.
John cracks the inside of Olavsson's front leg. Olavsson swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Olavsson looks to throw the jab but John is out of range. John tries to counter with a takedown but Olavsson is quick to defend against it. John defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Olavsson. Olavsson is looking to score with low kicks.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Olavsson. John forces Olavsson back against the cage and clinches. Olavsson tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and John avoids it. John breaks the clinch.
Olavsson closes this distance looking for a takedown but John circles away. Olavsson gets tackled into the cage by John. John maintains the clinch. John jumps into guard, dragging Olavsson to the mat.
Olavsson throws a strike but John rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. John trying to control but Olavsson is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Olavsson wants to stand and escape but John is having none of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Olavsson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. John manages to get himself to full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Olavsson holds on and takes a little breather. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. John won't allow Olavsson to sweep him here. John is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Olavsson controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cenk John dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Cenk John is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Olavsson throws a body kick that misses. John appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. John is looking to clinch but Olavsson is avoiding it.

Olavsson is looking to control John's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Olavsson avoid being mounted? Olavsson wants to get back to full guard. Olavsson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with John. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Olavsson is trying is best to control the position here. Olavsson tries to roll over but John keeps him under control. John missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Olavsson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and John counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. John throws a series of punches but Olavsson moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Olavsson tries a low kick but John avoids it. Good work by John as he checks the leg kick. John appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Olavsson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
John shoots for a double leg takedown but Olavsson sprawls well. He's pushed John's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Olavsson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind. Olavsson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Olavsson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Olavsson does a little dance to reset his feet. John throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Olavsson throws out a token jab with nothing on it. John tries to close the distance and clinch but Olavsson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A little jabbing left from Olavsson on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. John throws a looping overhand right but Olavsson ducks down to avoid it. A countering left hand to the body from Olavsson misses. John closes the distance and clinches up with Olavsson, looking for a takedown. John pushes Olavsson against the cage but Olavsson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. John tries to clinch there but Olavsson circles away.
Olavsson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but John moves away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Olavsson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. John manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Olavsson missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Magnus Olavsson. Well John has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
