Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Scott Columbus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Castillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Columbus's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Warriors of the world. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Castillo!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Columbus blocks a head kick by Castillo.
Columbus uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Castillo.
Castillo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Columbus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Columbus thinks about countering with a body kick.
Castillo avoids a kick to the body.
Castillo lands with a nice body kick.
Castillo getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nice straight punches there by Castillo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Castillo.


It looks like Scott Columbus has been cut.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Columbus.
Castillo throws a chopping leg kick but Columbus manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Columbus lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Columbus.
Columbus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Columbus lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Castillo throws a shot from downtown. Columbus moves away and avoids it.

That kick from Columbus tenderised Castillo's leg. Castillo is trying to keep his angry face on.
Columbus scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
A punch lands to the side of Castillo 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Columbus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Columbus lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Columbus tries to land a front kick but Castillo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Scott Columbus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Castillo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Castillo has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Columbus.
Columbus goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Columbus lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Columbus.
Castillo takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Castillo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Columbus feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Columbus throws a wild body kick that Castillo sees coming a mile off.
Columbus looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Castillo's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Castillo blocks the body kick.
Columbus moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Columbus dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Columbus cracks Castillo with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Castillo is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Castillo is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!
Columbus jabs Castillo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Castillo shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Columbus looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Columbus. Castillo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Columbus looks to land a right hand but Castillo moved out of range.
Columbus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Castillo can do to turn this around?
Castillo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Castillo throws a hook to the side of Columbus's head but Columbus sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Castillo takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

and Columbus counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Columbus connects with a beautiful left hand that drops Castillo onto his butt! Castillo bounces straight back up though - he's OK. After the ref checks him out, we're back to the action.


Castillo is rocked!
Columbus fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Castillo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Castillo is still on wobbly legs! Can Columbus finish him?
Columbus lands a slapping body shot.
Castillo seems to have recovered his senses.
Castillo walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Scott Columbus!
An out of breath Scott Columbus thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
