PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucius Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jin Quan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jin Quan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucius Bean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jin Quan!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quan shoots for a double leg takedown but Bean sprawls well. He's pushed Quan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bean is looking to counter punch.
Quan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Bean counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bean.
Quan tries for a takedown but Bean manages to get underhooks.
Lucius Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jin Quan.

Bean manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Quan drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bean manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Quan has Bean in his guard.

Bean could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bean in particular looking to stall.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Bean is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Quan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Bean is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Quan can do to turn this around?
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bean connects with a nice short shot to Quan's temple.

Quan manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Bean is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Quan is looking for a sweep. Bean is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Quan gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bean got a little sloppy there for a moment and Quan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bean has managed to get both his arms back between Quan's legs - danger averted.

We've been informed that Quan has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Lucius Bean overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Quan is in all sorts of trouble here.

Quan is rocked!
Quan takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Bean's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
