0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kent Brockman! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brockman. Karmanov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brockman tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Karmanov is in Brockman's guard. Karmanov is stalling in the full guard. Brockman trying to strike off his back.
Karmanov wants to control from the top but Brockman keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karmanov passes into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karmanov with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karmanov wants to control but Brockman is keeping him busy. Karmanov works his foot free and advances to mount. Brockman throwing hammer fists to the chest of Karmanov. What's that going to do exactly? We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brockman can do anything to dispel that myth. Karmanov trying to control but Brockman is having none of it. Brockman tries to get back to half guard but can't. Karmanov tries to control but Brockman wriggling away. Karmanov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Karmanov is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Brockman is forced to tap! Great finish!
