Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anton Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sergey Nevzlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergey Nevzlin! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez gets the takedown into side control. Nevzlin is trying to get back to half guard. Mendez decides to take the fight back to the feet. Mendez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mendez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Nevzlin explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Mendez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mendez clinches up with Nevzlin and pushes him back against the cage. Nevzlin is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Nevzlin is trying to break free.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mendez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Mendez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendez lands in his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mendez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Nevzlin wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mendez is now in half guard. Nevzlin wants to get back to his feet. Nevzlin is looking to get back to full guard here but Mendez has managed to pass to side control instead.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nevzlin wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Nevzlin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mendez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mendez stands up and beckons Nevzlin to his feet. Nevzlin instigates a clinch. Nevzlin wants to get back to striking at distance but Mendez won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez pushes Nevzlin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mendez is defended easily by Nevzlin. Mendez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nevzlin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Mendez loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Nevzlin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nevzlin looking to control but Mendez passes into half guard.
Mendez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nevzlin is just riding it out for now. Mendez eventually gives up the hold. Mendez decides to stand and escape the position. Mendez throws a lazy uppercut
and Nevzlin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Anton Mendez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Mendez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nevzlin pinned against the cage. Nevzlin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nice body punch from Nevzlin. Mendez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nevzlin looking to control but Mendez passes into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Nevzlin trying to control from the bottom.
Nevzlin is trying to stand up here but Mendez is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nevzlin is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Mendez jumps into side control! You can see the frustration on Nevzlin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Nevzlin tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Mendez easily slips into full mount! Nevzlin tries to lock up and control but Mendez gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Nevzlin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Nevzlin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Mendez blocks the strikes from Nevzlin.
Anton Mendez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nevzlin is looking to escape. Nevzlin wants to stand back up but Mendez manages to pass into side control.
Nevzlin trying his best to control but Mendez has mounted him. Mendez scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Nevzlin?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nevzlin is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez lands a big elbow. Mendez punishing his opponent with strikes. Mendez avoids the attempt from Nevzlin to control. BOOM! Mendez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Nevzlin wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nevzlin is wriggling around trying to escape.
Nevzlin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Nevzlin is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mendez avoids the attempt from Nevzlin to control. Mendez lands a couple of good shots and Nevzlin has given up his back, trying to escape the position! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nevzlin tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Mendez is able to avoid easily. Mendez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Nevzlin clinches. Mendez escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mendez scores with a jab. Nevzlin acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Nevzlin throws the kick towards the body but Mendez avoids it. Mendez closes the distance and pushes Nevzlin back into the cage. Mendez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nevzlin can do to turn this around? Mendez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nevzlin lands the left hand. Mendez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mendez was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nevzlin pinned against the cage. Nevzlin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Nevzlin doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Mendez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Nevzlin, pushing him back against the cage. Mendez manages to break the clinch.
Mendez with a poor takedown letting Nevzlin counter with a right hand. A left and a right from Nevzlin both land. Nice combination.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nevzlin scores with a three punch combo!
Mendez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nevzlin lands a right hook to the body.
Mendez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anton Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mendez shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Nevzlin manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nevzlin wants to get back to his feet but Mendez passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Nevzlin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Mendez shoots and misses and Nevzlin counters with a series of strikes that really hurt Mendez! The ref looks into his eyes and sees nobody home - he's called the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:13 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sergey Nevzlin!
