PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell comes into the arena with It's Dark and Hell Is Hot blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 38 - 60 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 91 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Birdman Lugz!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lugz shoots in looking for a takedown but Liddell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lugz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Liddell gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Liddell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lugz stopping the sweep attempt from Liddell.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Liddell is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Lugz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Liddell prevents it.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Birdman Lugz.
Liddell gets underhooks to prevent Lugz's takedown attempt.

Liddell breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Liddell gets tackled into the cage by Lugz. Lugz maintains the clinch.
Liddell lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Liddell manages to pull guard.
Liddell pulls Lugz in close to prevent any damage.
Lugz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Liddell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Lugz trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Liddell manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Liddell is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Liddell's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Lugz can't keep his opponent in guard - Liddell advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Liddell is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Liddell works his way into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lugz moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Liddell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lugz to the mat! Lugz manages to get full guard.
Lugz wants to hit a switch here but Liddell passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lugz there!
Liddell avoids the attempt from Lugz to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lugz is trying to escape the mount but Liddell keeps good control and instead manages to take Lugz's back.

Liddell is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Lugz is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chuck Liddell!
