Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Otha Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Evan Mahonni (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mahonni has chosen Boys Are Back In Town as his entrance music. Mahonni has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Evan Mahonni has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Otha Roman's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Otha Roman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Evan Mahonni! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roman changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mahonni tries to avoid it but Roman manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mahonni to the ground. Mahonni escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Evan Mahonni seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mahonni looks winded! Mahonni fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Roman to the ground. Mahonni is now in Roman's guard. Roman is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Roman tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Nice body punch from Roman. Mahonni prevents Roman from breaking the clinch. Roman breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Roman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mahonni's waist but Mahonni gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roman off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Otha Roman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Roman tries for a takedown but Mahonni sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Mahonni is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Roman with a body shot. Roman shoots for a double leg takedown but Mahonni sprawls well. He's pushed Roman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Roman.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman shoots in for a takedown but Mahonni shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Roman fails with the takedown. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Roman is defended easily by Mahonni. Roman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mahonni sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Roman somewhat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Mahonni defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Roman. Roman tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mahonni defends well and Roman ends up having to push Mahonni into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. As Roman backs off Mahonni throws a huge counter combo but Roman manages to avoid it all. Mahonni scores with a takedown into Roman's guard. Mahonni pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Roman is keeping the position for now. Mahonni controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Roman trying to keep a closed guard but Mahonni is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Mahonni shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mahonni showed some decent athleticism there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mahonni wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roman keeps working. Mahonni controlling the action here. Mahonni is looking to advance position but Roman won't allow it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Roman looking for submissions from an awkward position here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Evan Mahonni dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Roman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mahonni defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Roman. Mahonni shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Mahonni was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The strikes coming from Mahonni are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Roman regains half guard. Roman keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mahonni missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mahonni is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Roman kicks off Mahonni and gets to his feet. Mahonni throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Roman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mahonni circles away. Nice takedown defense from Mahonni. No joy for Roman on that attempt. Otha Roman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mahonni stuffs the takedown attempt from Roman. Roman gets slowly back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Roman forces Mahonni back against the cage and clinches. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Roman. Roman successfully pulls guard.
Mahonni prevents Roman from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Roman is pulling down on Mahonni's head. It's preventing any offense from Mahonni, at least for the moment. Roman had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mahonni defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Roman trying to keep a closed guard but Mahonni is proving a slippery customer.
Mahonni tries to free his leg and advance position but Roman is retaining full guard. Mahonni is fighting to break Roman's control of his arms but Roman is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roman wants to get back to his feet but Mahonni is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Roman tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Roman working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Mahonni is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mahonni is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Roman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mahonni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Roman working the ground and pound but Mahonni is defending the strikes. Roman prevents Mahonni from escaping the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Roman tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mahonni swivels and escapes. Nice sprawl there from Mahonni as Roman shoots in. Roman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The fight moves into the clinch position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Roman tries a body shot but Mahonni blocks it.
A frustrated look appears on Mahonni's face as he tries to break the clinch. Roman has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Roman unloads a knee to the mid-section. Roman lands a nice knee to the body. Roman working hard to break the clinch. Roman misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mahonni.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mahonni lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Mahonni tries to break the clinch but Roman is controlling the position. Otha Roman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Evan Mahonni is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mahonni prevents a body shot from Roman.
And that's the end of the fight! Otha Roman showed his dominance in that final round. I think Mahonni has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
