Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Joseph Mckay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Sweeney! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Daniel Bishop and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mckay dives in and scores a takedown into Sweeney's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mckay tries to stand but Sweeney is controlling from the bottom. Mckay really is a fat lump. Sweeney tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sweeney had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mckay defends it easily. Mckay stands up from guard. Let's bang! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sweeney clinches with his opponent.

Sweeney shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Sweeney clinches up with Mckay and pushes him back against the cage. Mckay pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Sweeney jabs Mckay right on the nose. Mckay blinks but takes it well. Mckay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Sweeney to the mat! Sweeney manages to get full guard. Mckay gets to his feet - Sweeney follows without any prompting. The fight moves into the clinch position. Mckay breaks from the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sweeney lands a head kick. Mckay smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Sweeney with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Mckay shoots for a double leg takedown but Sweeney sprawls well. He's pushed Mckay's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. As Mckay backs off Sweeney throws a huge counter combo but Mckay manages to avoid it all. Ben Sweeney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mckay tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sweeney sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mckay somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Mckay. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mckay dodges the punch combination from Sweeney.

Mckay jumps guard and drags Sweeney to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Sweeney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Sweeney gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Sweeney rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mckay moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mckay shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sweeney pinned against the cage. Sweeney gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. As Mckay backs off Sweeney throws a huge counter combo but Mckay manages to avoid it all. Mckay goes for a double leg but Sweeney avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Sweeney continues to drive forward. Sweeney now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Sweeney has taken the fight to the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mckay drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sweeney gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sweeney tries to roll over but Mckay keeps him under control. Mckay tries to stand and escape but Sweeney is controlling the position. Mckay controlling the action here. The fighters are battling for position here. Sweeney manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Mckay gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Sweeney decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sweeney throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Sweeney seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mckay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mckay is trying to get back to full guard.
