Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dan Chipman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Chipman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chipman drives through with a takedown into guard.
Sanchez looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Chipman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sanchez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sanchez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sanchez!
Chipman tries to buck Sanchez off but Sanchez is having none of it.
Chipman wants to control but Sanchez postures up.
Chipman is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Chipman moves into range and connects with a jab.

Chipman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sanchez. That did some damage!

Chipman feints and as Sanchez raises his hands in defense, Chipman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Chipman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanchez has escaped the position, nice work there.

Chipman looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Chipman stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Chipman tries to clinch there but Sanchez circles away.
Chipman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Chipman stands and throws Sanchez's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Chipman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sanchez has escaped the position, nice work there.

Sanchez prevents Chipman from improving position.
Sanchez is not content to let Chipman control the position.
Sanchez sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Chipman is tying to control. Sanchez wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chipman trying to mount his opponent but Sanchez defends it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Sanchez looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Chipman shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanchez as he avoids it easily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Chipman scores with a one two! Sanchez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Chipman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Sanchez tries to buck Chipman off but Chipman is having none of it.
Chipman throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Chipman tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chipman has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Chipman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Chipman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sanchez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Chipman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Chipman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sanchez's guard.

Sanchez shoots for a takedown but Chipman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Dan Chipman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Sanchez.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Chipman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sanchez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Chipman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sanchez is just riding it out for now. Chipman eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Sanchez wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chipman has him pressed against the cage.

Sanchez is trying to stand up here but Chipman is controlling him well.
Sanchez wants to improve his position but Chipman is controlling well.
Sanchez is refusing to be controlled, as Chipman sits in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Chipman is fighting to break Sanchez's control of his arms but Sanchez is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Chipman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sanchez is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Chipman, into his guard.

Sanchez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Chipman, up you get!

Dan Chipman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Dan Chipman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chipman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
