Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Kurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edwin MacCain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurmi darts in looking for a takedown but MacCain gets double underhooks and turns Kurmi into the cage.
MacCain is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Kurmi misses with a takedown
and MacCain counters by moving into the clinch.
Kurmi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite MacCain's efforts to push away.
MacCain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and MacCain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Kurmi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
MacCain is trying to pull guard but Kurmi has him pressed against the cage.
MacCain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MacCain moves into the clinch.
Kurmi jumps guard but MacCain stands there with Kurmi around his waist. Kurmi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
MacCain has hold of one of Kurmi's legs. Kurmi is fighting the takedown attempt but MacCain gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
MacCain postures up and lands a big shot to Kurmi's brow.

MacCain stays in close to Kurmi's body and controls the position.
MacCain sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kurmi's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
MacCain passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Kurmi!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kurmi is bucking up trying to escape but MacCain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
MacCain tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
MacCain is in the full mount, landing strikes.
MacCain wants to take Kurmi's back but he can't do it this time.
That's three minutes gone in the round.

MacCain has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kurmi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MacCain on the ground.

MacCain loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Kurmi scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from MacCain land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. MacCain stands and salutes the crowd.
