PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Myron Klewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guy Hanes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Klewis comes into the arena with Black blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Myron Klewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Guy Hanes!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Klewis's waist but Klewis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hanes off to one side.

As Hanes looks to move away, Klewis throws a big counter combo but Hanes just gets out of the way.
Myron Klewis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Guy Hanes.
Hanes misses with a takedown attempt - Klewis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

letting Klewis counter with a right hand.
Hanes goes for a double leg but Klewis avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Klewis continues to drive forward.

Klewis was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Klewis uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hanes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Hanes enables Klewis to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hanes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hanes throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Klewis escapes and throws Hanes's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Klewis is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hanes has escaped the position, nice work there.
Hanes tries to buck Klewis off but Klewis is having none of it.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Klewis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Klewis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hanes is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Klewis off and has taken his back!

Klewis rolls, trying to escape but Hanes keeps control of the position.
Hanes gets his hands free as Klewis looks to control.
Hanes lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Klewis.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Klewis looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Hanes cracks Klewis with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Klewis from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Well, with Hanes on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Klewis is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Klewis tries to escape but Hanes has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hanes is trying to stick to Klewis's back but Klewis is turning into Hanes. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hanes's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Klewis.

Hanes has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Klewis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Klewis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanes swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Klewis is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That was a close round but I would say that Myron Klewis will probably get the nod.

Klewis shoots in and bounces Hanes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hanes bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Klewis's guard.

Hanes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Klewis gets his way!
Klewis lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Will Klewis go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
