Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Thomas !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steven Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Thomas .

Lewis clinches up against the cage.
Thomas connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Steven Lewis has been cut.
A short right from Thomas .
Lewis is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Lewis has Thomas pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Lewis pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Thomas tumbling to the mat - Lewis dives into Thomas 's guard.
Thomas working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lewis.
Lewis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Thomas not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lewis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lewis misses with a takedown attempt
and Thomas counters with an inside leg kick.

Lewis clinches up with Thomas and pushes him back against the cage.

Lewis gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Thomas manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Lewis keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Thomas is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Lewis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lewis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Lewis keeps moving.
Thomas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground.
Thomas working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lewis is trying to control the position but Thomas postures up.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lewis has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Lewis's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.
Lewis throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Thomas throwing strikes but missing.
Thomas has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lewis wants to sweep here but Thomas controlling him for the moment.
Thomas stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lewis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Thomas looking to sit in guard and control but Lewis gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thomas trying to keep a closed guard but Lewis is proving a slippery customer.
Lewis won't allow Thomas to sweep him here.
Lewis controls from within his opponent's guard.

Lewis controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Thomas will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Steven Lewis's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Thomas scores with a jab. Lewis acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Thomas avoids the head kick by Lewis.

Lewis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Thomas to the mat! Thomas manages to get full guard.
Thomas trying to keep a closed guard but Lewis is proving a slippery customer.
Lewis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Thomas keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.
Lewis is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Lewis keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Thomas looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Thomas is staying active underneath Lewis, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Thomas is trying to maintain the position but Lewis is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lewis gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Lewis gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Thomas lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lewis backwards.
Lewis is trying to drag Thomas to the mat but Thomas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Lewis tries to pull guard but Thomas won't allow it.
Thomas has Lewis pushed against the cage.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Thomas .
Thomas scores with a nice hook to the head.
Thomas lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


Lewis is rocked!
Thomas dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Lewis is still on wobbly legs! Can Thomas finish him?
Lewis jumps guard but Thomas stands there with Lewis around his waist. Lewis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Lewis seems to have recovered his senses.
Frank Thomas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Steven Lewis.

Thomas crunches a lovely knee into Lewis's ribcage.

Thomas slowing the pace effectively.

Lewis tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Thomas drops Lewis with a big knee straight up the middle! Lewis is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Steven Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thomas feints a jab and as Lewis dips his head, Thomas unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Lewis right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Lewis falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Thomas smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Frank Thomas !
