Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Palmer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Taw DawTang! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DawTang scores with a body shot.
DawTang tries to clinch up and Palmer counters with a lovely straight right hand! DawTang tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice jab there from Palmer. DawTang throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Palmer closes the distance and pushes DawTang back into the cage. DawTang gets control of Palmer's arms and successfully pulls guard. DawTang will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. DawTang is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Palmer is aware though and is defending well. Palmer distracts DawTang with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! DawTang is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Palmer wants to control from the top but DawTang keeps moving. DawTang will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
DawTang is trying to control the position but Palmer postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Palmer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Palmer passes easily into side control. Nice work. DawTang is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Palmer's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. DawTang blocking the ground and pound attempt from Palmer. Palmer is looking to take a break and control but DawTang is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. DawTang wants to control but Palmer is keeping busy.
DawTang is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Palmer is staying active. Palmer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Palmer lands a nice short elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Palmer landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Palmer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Palmer lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Palmer wants to advance to full mount but DawTang doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Palmer passes easily into side control. Nice work. Palmer fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Palmer cracks DawTang with a big elbow. Palmer lands a decent elbow from side control. This has been an exciting period of action! Palmer tries to score with some ground and pound. DawTang controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. DawTang taking a bit of punishment here - Palmer scoring with strikes. DawTang is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Palmer's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. DawTang controlling the position well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Palmer trying to control the action but DawTang is working from the bottom. DawTang punching from the bottom.
DawTang keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Palmer connects with a nice short shot to DawTang's temple. Palmer is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. DawTang is looking to get back to is feet but Palmer passes into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Palmer slows the pace down. You can see the frustration on DawTang's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. DawTang is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Palmer works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Palmer working away. DawTang is looking to reverse the position. Palmer creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Palmer in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and DawTang looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Palmer turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
