Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryan Rain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Last Emperor! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emperor fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Emperor looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rain throws a sloppy head kick and Emperor moves out of range easily. Rain tries a head kick but it misses.
Nice body kick there by Rain. Rain closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Emperor to the mat! Emperor manages to get full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rain trying to control but Emperor is working from the bottom. Rain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Emperor on the ground. Rain is really struggling to control Emperor but he's trying to hold on to the position. Emperor throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Rain escapes and throws Emperor's legs to the side, diving into side control! Emperor is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rain grinds an elbow into Emperor's temple. Rain just content to control the position. Rain decides to take the fight back to the feet. Rain has closed the distance and engaged Emperor in a clinch.
Rain manages to pull guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rain is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Rain not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Emperor drops back looking for a leg! Rain is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rain manages to kick Emperor off! Emperor jumps back into Rain's guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rain managing to control the position. Emperor has gone for a leg lock! Rain slips out almost immediately though and dives into Emperor's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Emperor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rain trying to control but Emperor is working from the bottom. Rain wants to stand but Emperor is controlling his posture from full guard. Rain wants to control from the top but Emperor keeps moving. Rain has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Emperor has an active guard here but Rain has managed to pass into half guard.
Rain thows a huge punch but Emperor dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Rain dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Rain changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Emperor looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rain is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Emperor has escaped the position, nice work there. Emperor is trying to improve his position. Emperor is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Rain is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Emperor is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rain laying and praying for a moment but Emperor takes advantage and regains half guard. Rain working the head and body with strikes. Rain seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Emperor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rain rushes Emperor and presses him up against the cage. Rain has hold of one of Emperor's legs. Emperor is fighting the takedown attempt but Rain gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Rain is looking to stand up but Emperor won't let him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emperor escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Emperor looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Rain has picked Emperor up and slammed him! Emperor can't keep hold of the triangle and Rain manages to pass to side control! Emperor is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Rain's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Emperor looking for a kimura from the bottom but Rain passes into side control! Emperor tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rain looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Emperor is not content to let Rain control the position. Emperor is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rain off and has taken his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Emperor has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Emperor working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Rain breaks Emperor's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Emperor keeping moving, preventing Rain from controlling successfully. Rain is posturing up here but Emperor has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Rain tries to roll out but it's too tight and Rain has to tap! Slick submission there by Emperor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Last Emperor!
