Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fausto Ayers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Johnson ! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ayers dives in and scores a takedown into Johnson 's guard. Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Ayers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ayers decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Johnson , up you get! Ayers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Johnson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ayers manages to mount him!
Johnson wants to control but Ayers is having none of it. Johnson is desperately trying to improve his position but Ayers has a good base and remains in mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ayers stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Ayers swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson . Ayers seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Johnson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ayers as he avoids it easily. Ayers seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. It looks like Fausto Ayers has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ayers moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Johnson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown. Ayers tries to sprawl out of it but Johnson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ayers manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fausto Ayers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson . Ayers drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson wants to get back to his feet but Ayers drags him back down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ayers stands up. Johnson throws a series of punches but Ayers avoids them all with ease. Ayers gets the takedown into side control. Johnson sneaks out the side door and pushes Ayers away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. A good leg kick by Johnson . Ayers drives through with a takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ayers has passed into side control.
Ayers wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Johnson , who protects the arm well. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ayers.
Johnson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Ayers working the head and body with strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Fausto Ayers will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Fausto Ayers's cut. That's time! Ayers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Johnson is trying to pull guard but Ayers turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Ayers is trying to break free. Ayers tries to throw a body punch but Johnson avoids it by throwing Ayers back against the cage. Ayers manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Johnson content to stall in guard here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson prevents Ayers from getting back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson stands and steps away. Ayers gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Ayers pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnson enables Ayers to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Johnson looking for a sweep. Not yet Johnson , not yet. Ayers decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. The fight moves into the clinch position. Johnson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Johnson wants to break the clinch but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Johnson looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Johnson is trying to force a seperation but Ayers has the dominant position. Johnson misses with a knee to the head. Johnson is trying to drag Ayers to the mat but Ayers just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Johnson displaying some good clinch control by pressing Ayers up against the cage. Ayers has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Johnson is trying to keep an underhook but Ayers manages to get the takedown into half guard. Johnson pushes Ayers off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Ayers. Ayers maintains the clinch. Johnson creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Ayers using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Johnson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ayers pulls him back up using the underhooks. Fausto Ayers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Johnson .

Johnson fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ayers checks it well. Johnson tries to clinch up but Ayers circles away and keeps his distance. Ayers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson , pushing him back against the cage. Johnson working some nice short punches in the clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ayers manages to pull guard.
Ayers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Johnson tries to get to full guard but Ayers has control of the leg. Johnson is trying to maintain the position but Ayers is very close to passing his half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ayers jumps guard.
Ayers manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Johnson leaning his opponent against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ayers gets control of Johnson 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ayers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Johnson postures up and lands a big shot to Ayers's brow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Johnson throws a big elbow that misses. Ayers has momentary wrist control but Johnson slips an elbow through the middle. Johnson wants to control from the top but Ayers keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson stands up and waves to Ayers to follow him. Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Johnson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fausto Ayers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ayers fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson , pushing him back against the cage. Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Johnson wants to clinch. Ayers throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Ayers is in Johnson 's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ayers throwing strikes from guard but Johnson blocks nicely. Ayers drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Johnson dives on top into guard.
Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ayers, up you get! Ayers rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Ayers successfully pulls guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson lands a couple of digs. Johnson gets to his feet. Ayers looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ayers wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control. Johnson landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ayers is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Oh Ayers is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Johnson postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Ayers to stand up. John Johnson seems to be getting the better of the standup. Johnson finds Ayers's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Ayers flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Johnson lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Ayers will be OK.
