Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Dostoevsky! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Brown! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dostoevsky tries for a takedown but Brown sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dostoevsky drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dostoevsky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard. Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dostoevsky doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dostoevsky manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Dostoevsky loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Dostoevsky pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brown is keeping the position for now. Dostoevsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dostoevsky throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Brown has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dostoevsky can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Dostoevsky has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Brown looking for a sweep. Not yet Brown, not yet. Dostoevsky could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Brown can't keep his opponent in guard - Dostoevsky advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dostoevsky moves into full mount! Brown won't be happy about that! Brown is desperately trying to improve his position but Dostoevsky has a good base and remains in mount. Brown is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Brown is squirming around, avoiding Dostoevsky's attempts to control the action. Dostoevsky prevents Brown from getting the reversal. Brown looks gassed! Dostoevsky controlling his opponent. Brown is trying desperately to improve position. Dostoevsky looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Brown is desperately trying to improve his position but Dostoevsky has a good base and remains in mount. Dostoevsky landing strikes from the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A nice elbow there by Dostoevsky. Brown tries to lock up and control but Dostoevsky gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Dostoevsky tries to control but Brown wriggling away. Brown working to try and regain half guard.
Dostoevsky controlling his opponent. Brown is trying to escape the mount.
Dostoevsky forces the positional change into back control. You can see the frustration on Brown's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Brown is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Dostoevsky off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dostoevsky has got one arm under Brown's chin. This could be trouble... Brown trying to control the other hand but Dostoevsky gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Brown has tapped out! The fight is over!
