Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eric Walters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Burns!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Burns darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Burns wants to get back to his feet.
Burns trying to pass the guard but Walters defending well.
Burns stops Walters from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burns looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Burns looks to land a strike but Walters avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Walters is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burns is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Burns looking to score a takedown here. Walters is defending well but Burns drives through and ends up in Walters's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Burns decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Burns shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Walters manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Walters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Burns ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Burns no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Walters decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Burns shoots in and bounces Walters off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Burns looking to sit in guard and control but Walters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Burns is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Walters stands and steps away. Burns gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Burns throws a left and a right that both miss

and Walters counters with a single leg into guard. Burns didn't expect that.
Burns looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns is looking for a triangle but Walters pushes his legs off easily.
Burns looks winded!
Burns wants to sweep here but Walters controlling him for the moment.

Walters gets to his feet. Burns looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Burns looks to land a combination but Walters avoids it well.
Walters misses with a wild combination.

Burns scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Burns goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Walters has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Burns but great work by Walters.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Walters decides to stand back up.

Burns drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Walters manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Burns is just content to waste time from the top position. Walters takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Burns stands up from Walters's guard - Burns perhaps looking for a knockout.

Walters gets caught flat footed, as Burns shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Walters wants to get back to his feet but Burns is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Burns looking to sit in guard and control but Walters gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Burns is pulling down on Walters's head to control his posture.
Burns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Walters is pushing down on Burns's leg trying to pass to half guard. Burns is fighting to maintain full guard but Walters has managed to sneak the leg through.
Burns is trying to stand back up but Walters is controlling him
Burns slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Burns looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walters is one step ahead there.
Burns is breathing heavily.
Burns is still trying to improve position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Burns can do anything to dispel that myth.
Walters advances to half guard.

Burns is trying to maintain the position but Walters is very close to passing his half guard.
Burns is positioning himself well to prevent Walters advancing to mount.

Walters decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Burns shoots in and gets a takedown into Walters's guard.

Walters scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Burns is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Walters's half guard.

Walters manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Burns keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Walters breaks the clinch.
Walters shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Burns as he avoids it easily.

Burns drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Walters regains half guard, as Burns was trying to land strikes.
Burns is just content to waste time from the top position. Walters takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Burns closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Walters's guard.
Walters is wriggling around but Burns manages to pass to half guard.

Burns thows a huge punch but Walters dodges it nicely.

Walters looks like he's trying to stand up.
Burns perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Burns tries to stand and escape but Walters actually recovers to full guard.
Walters might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Walters keeping moving, preventing Burns from controlling successfully.
Walters working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burns.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Burns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Walters swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Burns postures up.
Walters keeping moving, preventing Burns from controlling successfully.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Burns changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Walters looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Walters explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Burns closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Walters wants to get back to his feet but Burns is dominant here and he's now got Walters's back!

Burns is looking for the choke from the back position but Walters is controlling his hands well.

Burns is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Walters defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Walters wants to get back to his feet.
Burns is not going to allow Walters to sit and survive in this position.
Burns biding his time, looking for the opening.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Burns trying to control momentarily.
Burns wants to control but Walters manages to buck him off and is now in Burns's guard! Nice work there by Walters!
David Burns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Eric Walters is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Burns has his foot on Walters's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Walters works his way back into a safe position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eric Walters.
Well Walters has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
