The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a head kick but Grabonzo moves out of range.

Thompson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Grabonzo to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Grabonzo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grabonzo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Thompson wants to stand up but Grabonzo is controlling him.
Grabonzo throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thompson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Thompson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Grabonzo is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grabonzo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Grabonzo drops back looking for a leg! Thompson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Thompson manages to kick Grabonzo off! Grabonzo jumps back into Thompson's guard.
Thompson is looking to stand up but Grabonzo isn't so interested in that idea.

Grabonzo loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grabonzo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Grabonzo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
