Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Parasenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Duncan Waters! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Waters throws a hook but Parasenko blocks it. Waters will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Parasenko slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. A big left from Waters misses. A counter left hand to the body from Parasenko misses its target. Waters looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Waters scores with a nice strike. Waters scores with a nice strike. A low kick from Parasenko is predictable there and Waters counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Waters ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Parasenko throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've been hearing reports that Parasenko has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Parasenko rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Waters moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Waters cracks Parasenko with a right hand to the side of the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Waters lands a nice shot to the body.
Duncan Waters seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Parasenko tries to keep at a distance but Waters has taken the fight into the clinch. Waters lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Waters tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Waters blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Parasenko is trying to break the clinch but Waters is controlling him. Parasenko misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Waters.
Waters blocks an elbow strike from Parasenko.
Parasenko misses with the head strike.
A short right from Waters on the inside. Waters lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Parasenko backwards. Waters lands an uppercut. Waters lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Parasenko backwards. Parasenko has a couple of punches blocked by Waters.
Waters is working Parasenko over against the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by Waters. Waters lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Waters is leaning against Parasenko and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Parasenko is breathing heavily. Waters creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Parasenko's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Parasenko drops to his knees and Waters pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Duncan Waters! A relieved looking Duncan Waters thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
