Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Everything in its right place. The crowd seem to be enjoying Gomez's choice of entrance music: Bad Motherfucker. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Franco Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big left from Penn misses.
Gomez now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
A chopping leg kick lands by Penn.
Penn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gomez.
Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
Gomez tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Penn is looking to score with low kicks.
Penn lands a body shot.
Gomez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Penn is fending him off so far but Gomez persists. Nope, Penn circles away and we're back to standing.
Penn has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Good the Bad and The Ugly in the buildup to the fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Penn pushes Gomez up against the cage in a clinch.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gomez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Penn keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Penn fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gomez sprawls well initially but Penn persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Penn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Gomez for as long as he can get away with.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gomez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Penn sprawls well. Penn wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gomez gets slowly back to his feet.
Penn throws a sloppy head kick
and Gomez counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A nice inside leg kick there by Penn. That's going to slow Gomez down.
Penn keeps Gomez at a distance using the push kick.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Penn as he jumps to the side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
