PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dorsey Randolph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cage is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Evolution : Enter The New World. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dorsey Randolph!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tristan Cage!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cage tries for a takedown but Randolph sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Randolph fails with a takedown attempt.
Cage doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.

Cage moves into the clinch.
Randolph really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cage ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cage no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Randolph gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Randolph drives through and clinches with Cage against the cage.

Randolph manages to break the clinch.
Randolph avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Cage clinches.
Randolph can't get the takedown.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dorsey Randolph. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cage wants to get back to striking at distance but Randolph won't allow it.

Randolph has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cage is working an open guard so Randolph takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Cage or perhaps it was just good defense by Randolph, which made it look bad.
Randolph swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Cage goes for a double leg but Randolph avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Randolph continues to drive forward.
A little feinted left hand from Randolph on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Randolph closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cage's guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Cage manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Randolph wants to get back to striking at distance but Cage won't allow it.
Randolph blocks a body shot from Cage.
Cage is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Randolph drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Randolph keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Cage's efforts to push away.

Cage misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Randolph looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Cage!

Randolph decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cage to his feet.

and Randolph connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Cage shoots for a takedown but Randolph saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Cage is looking to improve his position.
Cage trying to hold on to Randolph's head to control him but Randolph postures up.
Randolph tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Randolph stands up and beckons Cage to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dorsey Randolph will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cage rushes Randolph and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Cage breaks from the clinch.

Randolph shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Randolph postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cage to stand up.
Randolph fails with a takedown attempt.

Cage throws a series of punches but Randolph moves out of range.

Cage drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Randolph is striking off his back. Cage thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Cage wants to control but Randolph is keeping him busy.
Cage tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Randolph.

Randolph wants to get back to his feet but Cage is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Cage gets to his feet - Randolph follows without any prompting.

Cage instigates a clinch.
Cage misses with a punch to the body.

Cage breaks the clinch.
Cage fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Randolph was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

Randolph stuffs the takedown.
Dorsey Randolph is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Randolph drives through with a takedown into Cage's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Cage has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Randolph is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Cage is breathing heavily.
Cage is trying to pull guard but Randolph has him pressed against the cage.

Nice takedown defense from Randolph. No joy for Cage on that attempt.

Randolph fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cage to the ground. Randolph is now in Cage's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cage is on top in guard.


Randolph is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Cage makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Tristan Cage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Randolph stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cage to get to his feet.

Cage jumps guard but Randolph turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

A short body shot lands from Randolph as the two fighters clinch.

It looks like Randolph is going to stand back up.
Tristan Cage has got the better of the ground game so far.

Randolph is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cage takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cage darts in looking for a takedown but Randolph gets double underhooks and turns Cage into the cage.
Randolph slips a jab from Cage.
Randolph tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Cage defends well and Randolph ends up having to push Cage into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Randolph closes the distance and clinches up with Cage, looking for a takedown. Randolph pushes Cage against the cage but Cage circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cage has a takedown stuffed.
Dorsey Randolph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tristan Cage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Cage moves into the clinch.
Cage misses with a body punch.

Cage breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Randolph shoots for a double leg takedown but Cage sprawls well. He's pushed Randolph's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Randolph manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cage on his heels. He'll look to pass Cage's guard now, I'm sure.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Cage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dorsey Randolph.
I think Randolph has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
