PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Asdrubal Corachan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Pickett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brad Pickett told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Asdrubal Corachan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Brad Pickett!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pickett moves into the clinch.
Corachan jumps guard but Pickett turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Corachan tries to pull guard but Pickett won't allow it.
Pickett with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Pickett connects with a nasty looking knee right to Corachan's face.
Pickett creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Pickett digs a right hand underneath Corachan's ribcage. Corachan let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Corachan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Pickett is not content to let Corachan control the position.

Corachan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pickett is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pickett wants to improve his position but Corachan is controlling well.
Corachan slips a nice elbow through Pickett's hands, connecting with Pickett's forehead.
Corachan drops an elbow to the side of Pickett's head.
Pickett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Corachan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Corachan lands strikes from half guard.
Pickett is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Corachan working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Pickett is looking for a sweep. Corachan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pickett on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Corachan works his foot free and advances to mount.

Pickett is working to get back to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Corachan is landing with some decent strikes but Pickett is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Corachan working for a guillotine from mount but Pickett is in no mood to give up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pickett wants to control but Corachan is having none of it.
Corachan wants to stand but Pickett is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Corachan has hold of Pickett's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pickett manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Pickett is squirming around, avoiding Corachan's attempts to control the action.

Pickett can't escape the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pickett can do anything to dispel that myth.
Corachan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Pickett's face.

Pickett is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Corachan has taken his back.

Corachan sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Pickett taps out!
