The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schwarzeneg has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Palmares finds it's way round the side to connect with Schwarzeneg's head.
Schwarzeneg tries to clinch but Palmares moves out of range.

so Palmares counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Palmares thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Palmares is working Schwarzeneg over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Schwarzeneg keeping moving, preventing Palmares from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Palmares postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Palmares is working Schwarzeneg over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Palmares has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Palmares postures up in Schwarzeneg's guard and throws a big left but Schwarzeneg blocks it.

Schwarzeneg manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Palmares lands a left and a right that send Schwarzeneg crashing to the mat, dazed. Palmares thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Schwarzeneg is rocked!

Schwarzeneg manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Palmares on his heels. He'll look to pass Palmares's guard now, I'm sure.

Schwarzeneg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Palmares. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Palmares had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Schwarzeneg defends it easily.

Palmares is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schwarzeneg defends well.

Palmares working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Schwarzeneg doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Schwarzeneg manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Palmares is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Schwarzeneg frees his head nicely. Oh but Palmares has switched to an armbar! Schwarzeneg is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
