Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Morton Franks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Brooks! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brooks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Brooks rushes Franks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Franks holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Franks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooks wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Brooks has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Brooks pushes Franks back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Brooks misses with a knee to the head.

Franks is fighting it off but Brooks persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Franks's guard against the cage. Brooks content to stall in guard here. Brooks throwing strikes from guard but Franks blocks nicely. Franks wants to stand up but Brooks is controlling him. Franks trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brooks sitting in guard here, content to control. Brooks decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Excellent takedown into side control there by Brooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Brooks stalls from top position. Franks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Let's hope that Brooks has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Franks struggling a bit here. Franks throws Brooks to one side and escapes! This has been an exciting period of action! Brooks rushes Franks and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Brooks tightens his grip and picks Franks up, before dumping him to the ground. Franks manages to land in guard. Brooks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Franks keeping moving, preventing Brooks from controlling successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franks lands a decent shot there. Brooks postures up in Franks's guard and throws a big left but Franks blocks it. Franks wants to stand but Brooks is controlling the position. Brooks looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Franks looking to control but Brooks passes into half guard.
Brooks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Brooks performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Brooks missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Franks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brooks is working away from the top position though. Well, if Brooks is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Franks is looking to control Brooks's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Franks avoid being mounted? The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brooks missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Still in half guard, Brooks seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Brooks dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Brooks closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Brooks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franks keeps working. Franks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Franks trying to remain calm as Brooks controls from the top position. Franks is not content to let Brooks control the position. Brooks has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Franks is looking for a sweep. Franks wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Franks is letting Brooks control him for a moment. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooks connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Franks some visible discomfort.
Brooks working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Franks is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Franks trying to remain calm as Brooks controls from the top position. Brooks stands up and we're back to a striking position. Brooks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Brooks lands in his opponent's guard. Brooks throws a big right hand that misses. Franks is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brooks is controlling him. Franks will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brooks stands and steps away. Franks gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Brooks instigates a clinch. Brooks tries to break free but Franks pushes him back against the cage. Brooks pulls Franks into guard.
Brooks seems keen to control Franks's posture. Brooks scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Franks shoots in and drives through. Brooks sprawls well. Brooks gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Franks breaks from the clinch.
Brooks darts in and clinches Franks up against the cage. Brooks drags the fight down to the ground.
Brooks not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Franks trying to control the action but Brooks is working from the bottom. Brooks tries to buck Franks off but Franks is having none of it. Franks wants to control but Brooks is keeping him busy. Franks sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Brooks is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Brooks struggling a bit here. Franks is trying to get an arm triangle but Brooks is defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Brooks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Brooks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Franks throws out the jab. Brooks shoots in and bounces Franks off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Brooks passes easily into side control. Nice work. Franks throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. Brooks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franks keeps working. Franks tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brooks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Brooks decides to stand up, so the ref orders Franks to his feet. Brooks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Franks throws Brooks to one side and escapes!

Franks is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Brooks has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Franks uses from the top position. Brooks is trying to keep Franks in close.

Brooks takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Franks is trying to control the position but Brooks postures up. Franks throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Franks is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Brooks is looking to work some ground and pound but Franks has wrist control. Franks is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Brooks dives into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Brooks trying to control the position but Franks is working away. Brooks is staying tight to Franks's torso, preventing him from escaping. Franks is looking to regain half guard here but Brooks keeps moving and retains side control. Brooks stands up. Brooks darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Morton Franks has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! John Brooks is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Franks wants to get back to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! John Brooks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Brooks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
