Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Faria (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rousimar Tanquinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faria comes to the cage accompanied by Quiribamba. The crowd seem to be enjoying Tanquinho's choice of entrance music: Quiribamba. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rousimar Tanquinho! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Tanquinho. No joy for Faria on that attempt. Tanquinho throws a right and a left that Faria avoids nicely. Faria pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Faria landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Faria stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Faria shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tanquinho as he avoids it easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Faria. That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Faria is controlling Tanquinho's trapped leg to prevent Tanquinho from advancing to side control. Faria is trying to get back to full guard. Faria makes his way to full guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Tanquinho's corner is telling him to maintain position. A close round but Rousimar Tanquinho will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Tanquinho scores with a sloppy right hand. Faria should have avoided that one. Faria feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Tanquinho looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Tanquinho throws a head kick that misses. Faria shoots and misses and Tanquinho counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Faria! Faria is in all sorts of trouble here.
Faria wants to control but Tanquinho is having none of it. Faria tries to reverse the position but Tanquinho maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Faria wants to hold on but Tanquinho pushes him away. Tanquinho has isolated one of Faria's arms. Faria looking to fight him off but Tanquinho twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
