Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin James!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
James misses with a hook

and Quinn counters with a shoot takedown. James fights it but they end up in guard.

Quinn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Quinn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Quinn wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quinn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Quinn content to stall in guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quinn lands a couple of decent looking shots.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if James can do anything to dispel that myth.
Quinn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed James's guard.
Quinn thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
James wants to control but Quinn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee warns James that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Quinn is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, James has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ground and pound from Quinn seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Quinn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. James knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
James is not content to let Quinn control the position.

Quinn is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
James parries the strikes from Quinn easily there. Quinn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable James to escape.
Quinn controls the position from side control.

Quinn is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, James has escaped the position, nice work there.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quinn creates some space and throws a big elbow, but James sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Quinn doesn't seem bothered though.
Quinn drops his hands momentarily and James takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
James throws a combination that misses

and Quinn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in James's guard.

Quinn is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that James can do to turn this around?
Quinn seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down James for as long as he can get away with.

Quinn has hold of James's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! James tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Quinn cranks the arm and James screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from James, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Jack Quinn!
In defeat, Justin James stepped up to the mic, saying 'Well, ya know sometimes you just have to accept your loses and move on. It was definitely a great fight. But, at the end of the day it's the best fighter at the time wins and tonight based on the results my opponent was the better fighter.'.
