Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Nielsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Peter Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell avoids a kick to the body.

Liddell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Nielsen is not content to let Liddell control the position.
Nielsen wants to control but Liddell is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Liddell not doing much here.
Nielsen wants to improve his position but Liddell is controlling well.
Liddell is keen to just control but Nielsen is a slippery customer.
Liddell tries to stand and escape but Nielsen is controlling the position.
Nielsen is trying to get back to full guard.
Nielsen trying to control but Liddell postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nielsen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A head kick by Liddell misses
and Nielsen counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Liddell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Nielsen closes the distance and clinches up with Liddell, looking for a takedown. Nielsen pushes Liddell against the cage but Liddell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Liddell drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Liddell cracks Nielsen with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Liddell decides to stand up, so the ref orders Nielsen to his feet.
Nielsen stuffs the takedown attempt from Liddell. Liddell gets slowly back to his feet.
Liddell is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nielsen shoots for a double leg takedown but Liddell sprawls well. He's pushed Nielsen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nielsen takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nielsen throws a head kick that half lands.
Nielsen lands a high kick!
Nielsen blocks a jab.
Nielsen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nielsen throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Liddell's head.
Liddell gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Nielsen counters with a nice leg kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Liddell takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Nielsen shoots in for a takedown but Liddell shows good takedown defense.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Nielsen.
Liddell darts in trying to clinch

and Nielsen counters with a takedown into side control.
Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nielsen on the ground.
Liddell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nielsen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Nielsen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Liddell wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Nielsen working away.
Nielsen landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nielsen trying to control the action but Liddell is working from the bottom.
Liddell tries to bench press Nielsen off him but Nielsen keeps the position.
Liddell is trying to control Nielsen's posture but Nielsen avoids it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Nielsen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Liddell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liddell tries to get out of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Liddell avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Nielsen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Nielsen dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Liddell misses with an uppercut.
Liddell throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Nielsen's head.
Nielsen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Liddell circles away quickly and effectively.
Liddell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Nielsen closes the distance and clinches up with Liddell, looking for a takedown. Nielsen pushes Liddell against the cage but Liddell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nielsen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nielsen walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Liddell misses with a few strikes there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liddell looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Nielsen!

Nielsen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Nielsen wants to hold on but Liddell pushes him away.
Nielsen sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Nielsen wants to get back to full guard.
Nielsen is looking to control Liddell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nielsen avoid being mounted?

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Liddell missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Liddell is looking for a kimura but Nielsen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Liddell to get the leverage.
Liddell tries to stand and escape but Nielsen actually recovers to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Liddell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nielsen as he jumps to the side.
Good shot there by Nielsen.

Liddell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Peter Nielsen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Liddell stuffs the takedown.
Chuck Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Nielsen.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Nielsen counters with a single leg into guard. Liddell didn't expect that.
Liddell keeping moving, preventing Nielsen from controlling successfully.

Nielsen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Liddell controls Nielsen momentarily but Nielsen frees himself.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nielsen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Liddell keeping moving, preventing Nielsen from controlling successfully.
Liddell is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuck Liddell dominated that second round.
That's time! Liddell's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Nielsen lands a head kick. Liddell smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Nielsen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Liddell wants to control the action here but instead Nielsen manages to pass to full mount!
Nielsen scoring with strikes but Liddell is staying in there.
Nielsen with shots to the head and body - Liddell looks very uncomfortable down there.
Nielsen fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Liddell keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Peter Nielsen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Nielsen working for a guillotine from mount but Liddell is in no mood to give up.
Liddell is desperately trying to improve his position but Nielsen has a good base and remains in mount.
Nielsen trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Nielsen is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Liddell has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Liddell!
Liddell wanted to stand there but Nielsen had control of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Liddell throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Liddell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nielsen keeping moving, preventing Liddell from controlling successfully.
Liddell is really struggling to control Nielsen but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Liddell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nielsen is proving hard to escape from.

Nielsen controls Liddell momentarily but Liddell frees himself.
Nielsen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Liddell!
Liddell is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Nielsen landing strikes, looking to finish!
Nielsen avoids the attempt from Liddell to control.
Liddell is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
BOOM! Nielsen connects with a massive shot to the dome!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Nielsen lands a big shot there that rocks Liddell but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Nielsen looking to control but Liddell is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Liddell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Nielsen looking to finish Liddell with some ground and pound. This is bad for Liddell!
Nielsen controlling from mount.
Nielsen sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Liddell wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Peter Nielsen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Nielsen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
