PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Bradman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksander Lavronenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Don Bradman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aleksander Lavronenko!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lavronenko tries to clinch up but Bradman circles away and keeps his distance.
Bradman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bradman throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Lavronenko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Lavronenko throws the left hand but Bradman avoids the punch easily.
Bradman misses with a kick to the body.
Bradman throws a shot to the body.
Lavronenko scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Lavronenko moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lavronenko throws a jab but it's blocked by Bradman.
Bradman is looking to counter with head kicks.
Bradman connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

and Lavronenko counters with a nice uppercut.

Lavronenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bradman moves away.

Bradman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Bradman tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Lavronenko is able to avoid easily.

Don Bradman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lavronenko moves out of range of the body kick.

Lavronenko cracks Bradman with a good jab.
Bradman throws a sloppy head kick and Lavronenko moves out of range easily.
Bradman comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lavronenko uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bradman.
Bradman cracks Lavronenko with a good jab.
Lavronenko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Lavronenko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bradman manages to avoid it.
Lavronenko fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

The crowd cheers as Lavronenko lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bradman doesn't seem phased though.

and Lavronenko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Lavronenko is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bradman had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Lavronenko stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bradman.

Lavronenko has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Bradman fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Lavronenko has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Bradman walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lavronenko checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Despite the aggression on Lavronenko's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Bradman throws a chopping leg kick but Lavronenko manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Bradman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lavronenko.

Lavronenko jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Lavronenko clobbers Bradman with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bradman takes a jab right on the kisser.
Lavronenko tries to clinch but Bradman moves out of range.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Bradman throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Lavronenko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bradman manages to avoid it.

Bradman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

and Bradman counters with a stiff right hand.

Bradman drops his hands momentarily and Lavronenko takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Bradman scores with a push kick.
Bradman throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Lavronenko manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

A frustrated look appears on Lavronenko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

That was a close second round but I would say that Don Bradman will probably get the nod.

It seemed like Lavronenko was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Bradman counters with a slapping leg kick.
Lavronenko chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bradman can pounce on him.

Lavronenko looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

Lavronenko rushes Bradman and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bradman prevents a body shot from Lavronenko.
Lavronenko can't find room to land a body shot as Bradman controls the action.

Lavronenko tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Lavronenko might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Lavronenko's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Lavronenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bradman.
Bradman takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Bradman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lavronenko throws out a counter right but Bradman avoids it with no problem.

Lavronenko closes the distance and pushes Bradman back into the cage.
Bradman looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Lavronenko swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A nice left hand lands by Lavronenko.

Bradman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bradman is looking to score with low kicks.
Lavronenko tries to bum rush Bradman with a series of wild strikes but Bradman uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A slow jab from Bradman misses its intended target.
Lavronenko swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Lavronenko bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The fighters circling - Lavronenko throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Lavronenko drops Bradman with a beautiful combination! Bradman stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Lavronenko is looking for the KO!

It looks like Don Bradman has been cut.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Bradman throws a lazy uppercut

and Lavronenko counters with a nice right hand that sends Bradman toppling to the canvas! Bradman scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Lavronenko finish him?!
Oh Bradman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lavronenko throws a monster overhand right that drops Bradman! Lavronenko follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
