PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maddox Madman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sig Farkenheil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sig Farkenheil told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Maddox Madman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sig Farkenheil!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madman leaves Farkenheil with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Madman wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Madman misses with a low kick.
Farkenheil was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Madman lands a glancing blow to the side of Farkenheil's head.
Maddox Madman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A right-left combo lands from Madman.
Madman uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Madman tries to score with a low kick but Farkenheil moves his leg out of the way.
A left lands for Madman.
A decent looking cross lands there for Madman.
Farkenheil has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Farkenheil there as he acknowledges the shot.

Farkenheil closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Farkenheil breaks the clinch.

Farkenheil moves into the clinch successfully.
Madman is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Farkenheil jumps into guard, dragging Madman to the mat.

Farkenheil is looking for a triangle but Madman pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Madman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Farkenheil swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Farkenheil is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Madman defends well.

Farkenheil looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Madman pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Farkenheil is keeping the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Madman wants to control from the top but Farkenheil keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Farkenheil can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Farkenheil is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Madman really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Farkenheil closes the distance and pushes Madman back into the cage.
Madman is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Madman doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Madman is trying to maintain a safe position but Farkenheil gets an underhook and turns Madman into the cage.

Farkenheil has Madman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Farkenheil pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Madman tumbling to the mat - Farkenheil dives into Madman's guard.
Farkenheil controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Madman wants to stand up but Farkenheil is controlling him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Farkenheil wants to pass the guard but Madman is keeping the position.

Farkenheil decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Madman, up you get!

Farkenheil takes the fight into the clinch.

Farkenheil escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maddox Madman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Madman fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Farkenheil checks it well.
Farkenheil with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Madman to score with a decent uppercut.
Farkenheil takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Farkenheil instigates a clinch.
Madman is trying to break the clinch but Farkenheil is controlling him.
Farkenheil drops down looking for an ankle pick but Madman pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Farkenheil fails with the takedown
and Farkenheil takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Maddox Madman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sig Farkenheil.
Madman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Farkenheil has closed the distance and engaged Madman in a clinch.
Farkenheil blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Farkenheil avoiding damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Farkenheil jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Madman walks away with a smile on his face. Farkenheil gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Farkenheil drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A left lands for Madman.
Madman is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Madman scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Farkenheil on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Madman scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.


Farkenheil is rocked!
An inside leg kick from Madman misses.
Farkenheil is still on wobbly legs! Can Madman finish him?
Madman connects with a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maddox Madman dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Madman jabs Farkenheil right on the nose. Farkenheil blinks but takes it well.
Farkenheil seems to have recovered his senses.
Good shot there by Madman.
Madman fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Farkenheil takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Madman is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Farkenheil darts in looking for a takedown but Madman gets double underhooks and turns Farkenheil into the cage.
Madman throws a low kick, looking for Farkenheil's leg but Farkenheil calmly moves out of range.
Farkenheil walks into a straight right hand from Madman.
Madman clobbers Farkenheil with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Farkenheil moves out of range as Madman strikes.
Maddox Madman is winning the standup battle so far.
A clash of legs there as Farkenheil blocks the low kick.
Madman connects with the punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Farkenheil.
Farkenheil misses with a few strikes there.

Farkenheil moves into the clinch successfully.
Madman wants to stall.

Madman has a couple of punches blocked by Farkenheil.
Farkenheil jumps guard but Madman turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Maddox Madman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sig Farkenheil.
Farkenheil tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Madman smiles and moves away.
Farkenheil shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Madman defends it nicely.
Madman lands a head shot.

Farkenheil's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Madman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Farkenheil scrambles back to his feet.

Madman cracks Farkenheil with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Farkenheil tries to clinch there but Madman circles away.
Madman works the jab nicely.
Madman misses with a looping left.
Donk. Madman catches Farkenheil right on the button with a cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Madman throws a hook to the side of Farkenheil's head but Farkenheil sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Decent striking displayed by Madman there.
Madman scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Farkenheil misses with a takedown attempt - Madman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Farkenheil is breathing heavily.
Madman darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Farkenheil is looking to chop away at Madman's legs.
Farkenheil slips under a jab from Madman.
Madman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Madman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Madman scores with a jab to the head.
Farkenheil moves forwards but Madman connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Some bone on bone action there as Farkenheil checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Farkenheil closes this distance looking for a takedown but Madman circles away.
Sig Farkenheil is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Farkenheil finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Madman's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Farkenheil falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Maddox Madman!
