Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Hay!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raul Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez fails with the takedown
and Hay counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Hay darts in and clinches Mendez up against the cage.
Mendez has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hay after a bit of a struggle.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hay.
Hay prevents the takedown attempt.
Nick Hay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Raul Mendez.
Mendez tries to pull guard but Hay won't allow it.
Mendez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hay gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mendez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A short body shot lands from Hay as the two fighters clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Hay.


It looks like Raul Mendez has been cut.

Mendez is still on wobbly legs! Can Hay finish him?
Hay swings wildly with an uppercut but Mendez uses good head movement to avoid it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mendez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Hay throws a punch but it's blocked by Mendez.

Mendez tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hay smiles and moves away.
Nick Hay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hay lands an uppercut, right on the button! Mendez tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nick Hay!
