PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stratovarius Smiff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smiff takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Diaz scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Smiff motions for Diaz to come forward. Smiff throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smiff manages to avoid it.
Diaz scores with a jab to the body.
Smiff misses with a hook
letting Diaz counter with a right hand.

Smiff changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Smiff rushes Diaz and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Smiff has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Diaz uses from the top position.

Smiff escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Diaz looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Diaz tries to improve his position but Smiff has taken his back! Smiff has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Diaz tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Smiff pushes Diaz away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Stratovarius Smiff!
Nick Diaz spoke after the fight, saying 'I thought this was supposed to be a fight. All this guy did was drag me down and lay on top. I'm looking to come back and put on a better show for you guys next time. Thank you.'.
